In 2006, Miss Dannie Huggs reached a pivotal crossroads.
She was working in Corporate America, doing everything she believed she was supposed to do. On paper, her life made sense. Inside, it did not. Every fiber of her being was whispering, then screaming, that she was not living in alignment with who she truly came here to be.
One winter evening in Denver, during a snowstorm where the flakes were the size of silver coins and the entire city fell into reverent silence, she stood on the patio of her downtown apartment ten stories above the street. The world was hushed. The skyline glowed softly through the storm.
Inside, she was anything but still.
She was battling deep depression and loneliness. Tears streamed down her face as she stared at the city lights, feeling lost, unanchored, unsure how to find her way back to herself.
Even in that moment, she could feel the mysticism of the scene. The snow. The quiet. The glow.
Then something extraordinary happened.
A massive white owl appeared out of the storm, flying directly toward her balcony. Ten stories high. Cutting through the snowfall with purpose. As it came closer, she questioned what she was seeing. When it hovered only feet away, she knew this was real.
And in that instant, everything shifted.
A wave of peace moved through her body. The tears stopped. Her breath deepened. She felt a profound inner knowing settle into her bones.
She was being guided.

Everything was going to be okay.
Within a year, she left Corporate America and began a devoted journey into her own healing. She immersed herself in therapy, spiritual study, energy work, and self discovery. The deeper she healed, the stronger and more refined her own healing abilities became.

In 2019, inspired by that moment and her lived experience, she founded White Owl Apothecary. It was born from a deep knowing that Mother Earth provides everything we need to restore ourselves. That healing is not outside of us. It is remembered. It is reclaimed.
